SBS Transit's Volvo double deckers~

Snapped on Chinese New Year's Eve 2011.

It shows the generation difference in the Volvo Olympians and successors in SBS Transit's fleet.
The newer Volvo Wright B9TL with the bright orange EDS and modern Wright styling and the Volvo Olympian 3 axles (batch 1) with arylic route plate and a more traditional Royale styling.

SBS Transit's first Volvo B9TL on service 157

It was a pleasant surprise today as the SBS Transit's first Volvo B9TL ran on revenue service today on service 157.

SBS7486L from Braddell Bus Park on 157, permanent service on 88.

It was odd as even though the part of the 200 CDGE B9TLs were deployed to both Braddell Bus Park and Soon Lee Bus Park, none of them ever ran on service 157 (cameos or permanent bus) till today.

With the Leyland Olympians retiring, the CDGE/incoming Wright B9TLs may become part of the permanent fleet on 157.

Author's wish now : I wish it will be a Wright bodied B9TL next ^^.

Update: According to Charles Teo's info on our facebook page, it is the 2nd B9TL on 157. The first time was one of SLBP's 143 B9TL did 157 route (TPY to Boon Lay) before switching back to service 143. That means that this bus is the first BRBP bus to do 157. ^^

SMRT Buses - OC500LEs on 858!

7th November 2010 marks a significant milestone for SMRT bus service 858 as it has a few OC500LEs deployed today. 5 units of OC500LEs were deployed, namely SMB120Y, SMB128B, SMB129Z, SMB131R and SMB133K, and more of such deployments might happen again in the future.

Two interesting cameos on SMRT bus service 985 today, TIB949X and TIB950R.

The fleet of 11 Hino buses (TIB947B-TIB957Y) are usually confined to the west, serving Choa Chu Kang and Bukit Panjang on routes 925 and 975. It occasionally runs on other Kranji Depot services, making it a rare sight given the small size of the fleet.

The demonstrator Hino (TIB905Y) is found exclusively in Bukit Batok on service 941, occasionally running on other Kranji Depot services.

TIB905Y with the original Volgren bodywork. It would later be modified to have a "smiley" front and differentiate from SBS Transit's Volgren bodywork-ed buses.

Trivia: The Hino buses are the second type of Japanese buses to be used in SMRT's fleet, the first being the Nissan Diesel buses. Unlike their Nissan Diesel cousins which came completely built up with Japanese (Fuji Heavy Industries) bodywork, they were completely built up with Volgren bodywork for a modern look. It was also first trialled on TIB905Y. The Volgren bodywork would later be modified in the front design and used on other chassis such as the O405/O405G and Dennis Lance chassis
